Field Trip to Dyersville and Boreas Pass

Field Trip: Dyersville and Boreas Pass
Date of trip: SATURDAY 07/25/26
Meet at 10:00AM Como, Main Street (near the railroad station)
Leader: Josh Robinson
Description of the day:
We will start off by meeting in Como at 10:00 am (near the railroad station) from there we will go through the run of the day and start our drive up and over the Boreas pass road. This is a decent graded road, easily made in any car. A higher ground clear however would be more desirable, however. Along the way we will stop at several sites along the road, including the townsites of Hamilton, Peabody, Boreas, and Farnham. At Farnham we will stop for lunch. After lunch we will begin our one-mile 4×4 (or hike) down to the site of Dyersville, here we will explore the ruined townsite mine and mill, including the ruins of the Angles rest saloon. Josh will lead a talk on the architecture and archeology found at the site. Form there we will head back up to the Boreas pass road and finish the route over to Breckenridge. Dinner some place after.
Accessibility:
I would give this a hiking rating as a 3+, according to the GTC field trip guide. The ground is a natural setting with debris, and unmaintained roads and paths, hilly inclines. Not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs, or people not in good physical health. Or difficulty walking.
Items to Bring:
packed lunch, snacks, PLENTY OF WATER, hiking sticks, sunscreen, etc. Dress for a Hike, it also may rain!
